It’s actually been a while since I’ve posted any decent content on here. I’ve been busy posting up home cooking recipes on another one of my blogs. I’m changing that today with a post about another favourite restaurant of mine, Le Nouveau Monde. For those of you who are interested in a little bit of history, Jules Verne was born here on February 8th 1828.
Back to Le Nouveau Monde though … the interior of the restaurant always feels bright and cosy, the staff I’ve always found to be very friendly and welcoming. We’ve eaten here for lunch many a time and even brought the kids in one evening when friends were over from Ireland. It’s situated extremely centrally just 50 meters south of commerce along the tram tracks. It’s also nice in the summer if you can get a seat outside to sit and watch the trams go by.
Today we headed in for a lunch time menu and I for one wasn’t disappointed 🙂
You’ll find the menu of the day on the Blackboards that do the rounds through the restaurant.
I opted for a starter and a main .. Val went with the main and a dessert.
I opted for the roast? Camenbert with honey and it was BIG and heavy for a starter but perfect for the cold weather.
For the main I went with the sauteed veal.
Price wise for the lunch time menu you’re paying €14 for a starter / main or main / dessert and a coffee or tea. You can also opt for the works for €17 if you’re feeling hungry and not much like working afterwards.
Val went with the fish which arrived on a bed of pumpkin, butter sauce, and with a side of mashed potato. My photo doesn’t do it justice but it looked very nice.
For dessert she went with the upside down apple cake? 🙂
All in all a lovely relaxed lunch. I would definitely recommend Le Nouveau Monde.
