It’s domain renewal time today and it’s kinda funny (at least to me). I registered this page 4 years ago with the intention of doing what I’m doing now.

Side Note:: When you register a website name like nantes.today it’s yours BUT you have to pay a yearly charge to keep it registered, namely the domain renewal fee.

Life has a way of getting in the way though. Work … my wife was pregnant with our son … not to mention having a 2 year old running around the place and I was trying to take French classes though failing miserably at getting to them at the uni and so It wasn’t until  January 29th, 2016 that I made my first hello world style post. It took another month or so February 23rd until I posted up my first review of a restaurant – Beckett’s Canteen

As such most restaurant reviews are out of date but I’ll keep them there as they remind me of some nice meals. Le Nouveau Monde for example has since changed hands so I’ll have to get back to post an updated review.

This website is also going to be a bit of an agile development project. Plan features, add features, fix issues, and improve.

Nantes Today From The Boat

If you think of anything interesting you’d like to see on the blog let me know and I can try to add up something. If you’re interested no doubt other people will be interested 🙂 This is also a labour of love (I really love Nantes and would like to share some of my knowledge with you) so if there are no updates for a bit it’s because I’m probably too busy.

For the most part this blog will also be light on the amount of French in use. There are 100s if not 1000s of blogs in French about Nantes. I’m reminded of the video below quite often from Sébastien Chabal where the reporter asks if he can ask him a question in English …

We are in France, we speak French OK?

I’m an admin over on the Facebook group Knowing Nantes and as it’s mainly for foreigners here in Nantes our common language is English and not French, hence posts should be made in English. Please note that everyone is welcome even if you’re shock horror …  French 😛

Some people are fluent in French on the group .. and some struggle with the basics .. similarly some people have very little English but that’s cool too.

Welcome to Nantes Today 🙂
